FOR PARENTS

Camp Appanoose offers programs designed to broaden the horizons of young persons and introduce them to experiences which will create lifelong memories, perhaps even lead to a career choice, or a rewarding hobby. All programs include much variety, giving campers an opportunity to try new activities along with participation in some of their favorite ones. For a sample day, see “Sample Camper Day”.

As a camp, we maintain membership in Christian Camp and Conference Association (CCCA), a fellowship of over a thousand camps. Spiritual principles taken from the Bible are integrated into all activities. While the camp is evangelical, it is not specifically affiliated with a single denomination. The camp is led by a team of professional educators who understand youth and believe that all young persons need to be introduced to Jesus Christ. See ‘Philosphy-Tipi Concept’, ‘Mission Statement’, and ‘Camp Leadership’.

For the past twenty years Camp Appanoose has provided positive experiences for young people, giving them a new perspective on life, the opportunity to meet new friends, and hope for their future. Every camper is assigned to a small group led by a trained counselor who will serve as a ‘big brother,’ ‘big sister’ mentor and will oversee the safety and well being of each camper. Every effort is made to create a safe and healthy environment at camp. Wholesome food is served in the dining hall which is regularly inspected and approved by the local health department. Adequate sleep and rest combined with vigorous activity promotes excellent health. In the event of an emergency, a well equipped hospital is only twenty minutes away from camp.
